i'll call pocket aces with 8 people in the hand you would still be leading preflop but there is the chance that one of those people would have aces also (unlikely but possibly and someone could easy have a pocket pair and pop trips but it's still aces

Well is it the beginning of the tournament???
It is close to being paid... and do u have chips if u lose.

Ive seen aces get busted more than win with my own personal experience..
Going all in with aces is just asking bad poker to bust em and kick ur ass.

All preflop all ins are retarted in my opinion unless ur desperate and need chips or someone has already raised it substantially to where you might as well jus go al in.

Better off playing hands through... catching the full house with a 10 8 and milking the person with top pair for all their chips... then again you can only play 10 8 's if u have chips to play with.

Theres so many factors and sooo many wrong answers... in poker i jus dont see any truth... the 1 thing that i love about how i play is someone can think they can read me but when i dont even know what im gonna do... how do they.

I really can't believe theres so many people advocating laying down AA. I mean seriously, are we talking about Holdem?? I mean I'm just amazed by what I'm reading in this post.

Okay, heres my question to answer this question. Would you lay down AA pre-flop if you knew it would be seen on tv? Would you really believe you could validate that to the audience, announcers and other poker players? Would you like your name to be a reference to laying down a good hand in poker, like "the Brunson"? Would you want to be replayed for years as "the dumbest move ever"?

Here's what i'll say to people who will cry and whine to me cause they think they are right by saying "It makes sense if you're on the bubble before the money." What hand will you call with in what situation? If you have a low stack, then I would reason you wouldn't play any hand unless you act first and if it has at least an A and a face card. If you're mid-stack, then when will you make a move? Cause frankly, you passed up the best situation to make a big stack to make it to the final table and the big money. Do you really believe at that point with a mid-stack you will be able to see another premium hand without someone playing for the pot? What about the Big stack? When will that player try to knock out the short stacks? I mean if you have chips, are you telling me it makes no sense to try and take out low stacks? Especially with AA???

So I really can't believe how many people are validating laying down AA pre-flop. In fact I want someone who is for laying down AA pre-flop to explain to me how all my points were wrong!! I demand it!

Merry Christmas

Not with you there. All in is to high a price with 3 already doing it. Let the herd be thinned and pick your spots. Small pots keep you alive but a preflop call with A A in hand against three others.

They got equal odds of hitting cards to beat you. A flop determins the value of your cards.

Ahhh...back to this thread...

The answer for me depends on the game I'm playing. Tourney, I'm not calling - because even if I win the big pot, while I may be in good position, I haven't cashed for anything yet. However, if we're talking cash game..I call in an instant.

Not quite sure of the odds of AA against 3 random hands, but I'd say it would be around 50% or so. This means you'd need to be getting 1:1 odds or better to make the call profitable. Meanwhile, you're getting 3:1 - VERY profitable situation here.
